Fourth, Save and file your winnings.

Before you go any further record the details of your win for tax purposes. Often in the excitement of winning important details are forgotten months later when tax time comes. Do it now.

Fifth, File an official affidavit when required.

Nearly all notifications of being a winner come with a affidavit to fill out and return to confirm you are the winner.

Sixth, Get all paperwork notarized.

The best way to be official is to get all of your paperwork notarized in case of any future legal issues. Notarizing your winnings will keep you safe.

Seventh, Contact the sponsor of the sweepstakes again.

Let the sponsor (business, contact person) of the sweepstakes know that you have completed your affidavit and all official paperwork has been sent to them. Ask them if there are any last steps to claim your prize.

Eighth, Thank the sponsor.

Sponors like a grateful winner. It validates their efforts. It can even pay off more with additional prizes for some people. It is a nice thing to do.

Ninth, Look out for your prize!

This is the fun part! Watch for your prize winnings to come in the mail or by official courier. Courier is typically the most used method from sponsors especially when the sweepstakes included money or large items.
